Volunteerism – GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix
EVERYDAY HERO – LAURA KIMBLE
At GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix, one of our Volunteer “Home Run Hitters” is Laura Kimble. Laura and her Son Ted first attended the LMNOP Program at GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix over two years ago. It wasn’t long before Laura wanted to “give back” and find ways to volunteer her time and talent. She is a “big picture” thinker. On her “bucket list” was the desire to spend a summer traveling with her family to attend baseball games at Baseball Parks coast to coast. Their journey came to be known as “Runs for Ted”. Not only did here family become a voice for the Down Syndrome Community to promote Generation G and all that it represents, i.e., Be Accepting, Be Kind, and Be Generous, they also raised thousands of dollars to support GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix. Laura shared her family’s journey via social media throughout the summer. Her creative social media communications were informational, interesting, and entertaining as we all followed their journey. Since then, Laura has volunteered her social media skill set to GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix and lends her assistance for our Facebook and Instagram postings as well as participating in community events. This month, Laura was back at the baseball park and represented GiGi’s Playhouse at the Down Syndrome Awareness Event hosted by the Arizona Diamond Backs at Chase Field. GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix along with other organizations serving the Down Syndrome Community setup tables to share information about their respective organizations with those in attendance at the baseball game. Thank you, Laura for continuing to share your voice, time, and talent to spread the Generation G messaging. You are our one of our “Home Run Hitters” and continue to “hit it out of the park”!
