What Are Your New Year’s Resolutions for 2025?

Happy 2025 Gigi’s Playhouse! Goodbye 2024. Hello to 2025!

I just wanted to share some great holidays to celebrate in January 2025. For example, New Year’s Day, National Write to Congress Day, National Spaghetti Day, National Whipped Cream Day, National Bobblehead Day, Benjamin Franklin’s Birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Lunar New Year are just a few holidays that are celebrated in January 2025.

New Year’s Day is celebrated on Wednesday, January 1st this year, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in different ways. Families and friends usually gather to share a meal and “ring in” the New Year, often with a toast and a song. Americans also enjoy the tradition of watching the New Year’s festivities at Times Square in New York City which are broadcast on TV. Other traditions include watching fireworks, eating 12 grapes at midnight, sharing a kiss at midnight, drinking champagne, using themed decoration, and taking photos. New Year’s Day is a national holiday in the United States. This is typically a day of rest, often in the company of family and friends. It’s also a day of setting resolutions. My New Year’s resolutions are eating more salads, avocado, protein, and vegetables, drinking more ice cold water, working out at the gym twice a week, eating more yogurts for dinner at night, cooking and baking more often, having more peace and quiet with Peter Colombos on romantic dates, going to the movies, loosing weight, eating less pasta and carbs, eating more fiber, and going out for walks on the weekends with loved ones.

National Write to Congress Day is celebrated on Friday, January 3rd this year, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in different ways. One such way includes writing essays to Congress to share your opinions on issues that are important to you. Members of Congress consider those opinions as they make decisions about bills and laws. Sarah Hale, an American writer, wrote to members of Congress and Presidents for 36 years asking them to make Thanksgiving a national holiday. Eventually, in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln fulfilled her request.

National Spaghetti Day is celebrated on Saturday, January 4th this year. This is a delicious pasta-filled holiday that pays tribute to one of the world’s favorite comfort foods – spaghetti! On this day I am planning on cooking spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. It’s a great way to celebrate the start of 2025. You can enjoy spaghetti at home or at an Italian restaurant. You can try different sauces, toppings, or bases. You can even make spaghetti from scratch. This is a great way to make memories with loved ones. Another option for this day is to create pasta art by using spaghetti to make crafts or sculptures. This is a fun activity to do with kids. This day is also a wonderful day to donate to a food bank or charity that helps those in need. You can also host a lunch where people can bring and sample different types of spaghetti dishes. The options are limitless on this day.

National Whipped Cream Day is celebrated on Sunday, January 5th this year, and a lot of people celebrate the holiday in different ways. Some ways to honor the holiday include adding whipped cream to desserts, making whipped cream, or using whipped cream as a main ingredient in a dessert. Whipped cream can make desserts creamier and more exciting. On this day I am planning on making a banana split with ice cream, whipped cream, and cherries on top.

National Bobblehead Day is celebrated on Tuesday, January 7th this year. It is an annual holiday that celebrates the spring-connected head bobbing figurines that have been entertaining fans and collectors for over 100 years. Become a member of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. Bring treats to the office, and showcase your amazing bobblehead display. Wish all of your bobbleheads, friends, and family a Happy National Bobblehead Day.

Benjamin Franklin’s birthday is celebrated on Friday, January 17th. Franklin is considered a founding father of the United States of America. A lot of people celebrate Franklin’s birthday in a lot of different ways. One of these ways includes planning a themed dinner and discussing Franklin’s many roles – diplomat, inventor, writer, and scientist – over the dinner table. Celebrating Benjamin Franklin Day is not just about paying homage to his genius but also embracing the values he stood for such as freedom and democracy.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated on Monday, January 20th this year, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in a lot of different ways. The holiday honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his Civil Rights leadership. It is popular on this day to attend parades and marches, make speeches, volunteer, read books, and watch videos that highlight MLK Jr.’s life and work. In 1994, Congress designated the holiday as a national day of service. On this day, national parks waive entrance fees for everyone. The King Center will host events to celebrate MLK Jr.’s work and Mrs. Coretta Scott King’s continuation of that work. The theme for 2025 is Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence365. On this day, I am planning on going to the cemetery to visit my loved ones and Peter Colombos’s family who have passed away. MLK Jr. Day is celebrated on the third Monday of January every year. However, MLK Jr’s birthday was on January 15th.

Lunar New Year is celebrated on Wednesday, January 29th this year, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in a lot of different ways. One popular way of celebrating this day includes eating traditional foods such as dumplings, fish, spring rolls, and nian gao, a cake that symbolizes unity, abundance, and happiness. Those who celebrate Lunar New Year often have a family dinner that includes these traditional dishes. Oranges and tangerines are traditionally gifted because they represent luck and wealth. It’s is also a common tradition for elders to give red envelopes containing money (hongbao) to younger family members. Sweeping the home is another tradition commonly done to symbolically drive out any bad luck. Other popular activities for the Lunar New Year include watching a traditional celebration, lighting lanterns and firecrackers, learning calligraphy, playing games, and saying blessings. This new year will herald in the year of the snake. Snakes represent transformation, renewal, and growth. On this day, I am planning on ordering Chinese food for dinner to celebrate.

Wishing you all the best in 2025 and hope to see you in February 2025 with another blog post!

Sending you all a lot of love and happiness in 2025.

See you in February 2025.

Love you all,

Fatima
