Thankful Parent…

This note was sent to the Site Coordinator at GiGi’s Playhouse McHenry County after the Leaps and Bounds program this past weekend:

I feel the need to write a love letter of sorts to the program volunteers and tutors we’ve encountered at GiGi’s Playhouse in McHenry. I continually leave the playhouse after one of our daughter’s programs or tutoring sessions in awe of the planning, commitment, materials, support, patience, and love for the kids each volunteer brings to the programs. Our daughter has come a long way from being a shy little one, who sat back from the group clinging to me, to a full-on, confident participant. It didn’t happen overnight, but little by little, with prompting, gentleness and repetition, she has grown to trust and look forward to these programs. A huge part of this growth is due to the amazing volunteers. In talking with the volunteers, I know they love working with the kids at Gigi’s and it shows in how they come to each program so well prepared and well-versed in how children with Down syndrome learn best. So, I want to share a huge “thank you” to all the therapists, tutors and assistants who give their time and resources so generously and lovingly. You amaze me!  – From a very grateful parent.
