GIGI’s Playhouse McHenry County 2018 Superheroes

This year we are proud to honor three people who helped build our Playhouse from the ground up 10 years ago – Laura Cook, Bill Lewis and Jessica Lewis -- as Our Superheroes!   

GIGI’s Playhouse McHenry County held its Grand Opening on April 26, 2008.  Laura, Bill and Jessica were driving forces behind this new place which individuals with Down syndrome could call their own. As parents of children with Down syndrome building GiGi’s Playhouse McHenry County personal and important. Laura became a member of the first Board of Directors. All three donated their sweat equity to create a welcoming space and build an organization we are proud of 10 years later. 

The group’s slogan was - “Loving a Child with Down syndrome is Contagious. Help us spread the Love!”  Although the wording has changed over the years this sentiment remains the same 10 years later. 

On behalf of the children and adults we serve, thank you Laura, Bill and Jessica! 

The Superhero award was established to recognize people who have gone above and beyond on behalf of the Playhouse and individuals with Down syndrome.  It is presented annually at GiGI’s Spring Fashion Show Luncheon.
