Our Achievers Make a Difference: Giving Back to the Community This Thanksgiving

At GiGi’s Playhouse Long Island, our Achievers never cease to amaze us with their dedication, creativity, and heart. Over the past few months, they have been working tirelessly to make a meaningful impact in our local community — and the results are truly inspiring!
With guidance from Tom Quinn, their Program Leader, our Achievers came up with the idea to start a bracelet business. Together, they decided that the funds raised should be used to give back to the Patchogue-Medford Youth Center (PMYCS). Through their bracelet sales at CoHo, they raised $500 to support this wonderful organization.
But they didn’t stop at raising funds — they took it one step further by personally selecting and purchasing the items needed for the PMYCS Thanksgiving baskets. With guidance from Samantha Wood, Executive Director at PMYCS, our Achievers shopped at Lidl in East Patchogue, carefully gathering everything on the list.
Once back at GiGi’s Playhouse, they rolled up their sleeves and assembled 43 Thanksgiving baskets, filled with food and essentials, ready to be distributed to families in need across the community.
This project is a shining example of how our participants embody compassion, leadership, and community spirit. By taking action to support others, our Achievers not only help those around them but also learn invaluable lessons about giving, teamwork, and making a difference.
We are incredibly proud of each and every Achiever who contributed to this project. Their efforts remind us that big impacts come from small acts of kindness, and together, we can create meaningful change.
Thank you to Tom Quinn, our Achievers, our WONDERFUL volunteers Tom Logan and Cathleen Cavanagh, and everyone else who supported this initiative for demonstrating the true power of community and generosity. 💛
