Volunteer Spotlight- Perla and Isabel

The time has come to say good-bye and good luck to our AU interns, Perla and Isabel.  They both demonstrated tremendous growth through the last 8 months.  I remember Isabel on her first day, she was so excited that she went home and memorized our mission statement!  Perla was so excited that she started volunteering the summer before.  Through our time together they have excelled in the following areas:

• Data entry and learning that Salesforce is very persnickety and you must capitalize everyone’s name or it will make a duplicate entry!
• Community building- they really excelled at getting in contact with parents to remind them of upcoming programs, inviting community groups to take tours, acknowledging donors
• Fundraising- Perla and Isabel helped out with the Fashion Show by welcoming guests, selling raffle tickets and managing the slide show
• Programs- Perla and Isabel lead Destination Discovery and were also program leaders, they learned about the importance of taking good notes, tracking progress and using that information to make informed decisions on future planning. Perla was also a member of the Programs Committee
• Operations- Perla and Isabel helped with organizing, cleaning and staging the playhouse for programs and potential donors. Isabel also gave Playhouse tours and helped with Volunteer Orientations.
• Marketing- Perla aided in our Hispanic Playgroup by translating materials on our fliers and our website to make it more accessible, and they also wrote blog posts after programs, followed up with participants, volunteers and program leaders to celebrate the Best of All moments.

Thank you, ladies, for all your hard work and good luck on your future endeavors as Social Workers!!!   Thank you also for teaching me some very valuable lessons.  You will be missed!
