Getting to Know Program Leader for GiGi’s Kitchen

  • My name is Mary O’Callaghan, I am 23 years old and I am a graduate student at Elmhurst University in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program! I love to be creative, whether it is in the kitchen making new recipes for dinner or baking delicious desserts, or creating art by painting, drawing, or taking photos!
  • I am looking forward to sharing my love for cooking with the participants at GiGi’s. It can sometimes be challenging to learn the basics of cooking, but once you have got it down you can make almost anything! I also am excited about building new friendships with the participants and learning what they like to do and what food they enjoy most so we can make it together! There are endless possibilities when it comes to cooking and I can’t wait to explore them together.
  • I hope to learn the best ways to connect with, lead, and motivate the participants at GiGi’s. I have experience in leadership, but I hope that this program will help me to become an even better leader! I am also hoping to learn how I can better engrain the mission of GiGi’s “To change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all” into my own life and influence others in my life to embody this mission.
