Participant Best of All: Zoe
Zoe has been regularly attending programs at GiGi’s Playhouse for the past 3 years. While she is already in Kindergarten, there are still many skills practiced at Preschool Prep that are of value to Zoe. One of these skills is sitting during circle time. Zoe is very self directed, and if she sees something of interest to her at the Playhouse she will gravitate toward those toys, instead of attending to the program. It was frustrating to see other children attending to the sessions and Zoe off to the side by herself playing. But, we persisted and kept bringing Zoe to programs. Persistence paid off! At this session Zoe sat during circle and participated in the interactive book, rang bells during jingle bells, and even attempted making a Santa with cotton balls. It wasn’t always easy, and Zoe still is very determined to do things on her terms, but it is progress.
Avery, a newcomer to Preschool Prep, was a pro at using the glue and cotton balls, with the assistance of mom, and also sat nicely during story time. She also showed her determination by going through the entire crawling tunnel! It is so interesting to see that while children may be at different ages/stages of development we all have room to grow!
