Last Day as GiGi’s Fox Valley’s Intern
As I sit here reflecting on my time as GiGi’s Playhouse’s latest intern I wonder how the summer flew by!
I began this journey in early June and will now be heading back to fall classes at Northern Illinois with more motivation than ever before to pursue my masters degree in speech language pathology. While most college students were getting their tans on this summer and enjoying three months of no stress I was traveling from Aurora to Dekalb for summer classes and this internship; after all the trigonometry has ended and I’m getting closer to inputting my last set of data for GiGi’s playhouse I cannot express enough how thankful I am for this organization and the decisions I made early on in the summer that led me to be apart of such a wonderful and welcoming community!
I have learned so much more about down syndrome as well as how a non for profit organization works that has helped grow and foster my desire to work with children!
Julie and Linda have been wonderful supervisors to me as well, always making sure I was able to interact with families whenever possible which helped me so very much in gaining the experience necessary to help make me into a more confident and giving person.
This internship allowed me to gain so many tools to move forward with and allowed me to make so many great memories with the kiddos who walked through the door that I can never truly be thankful enough.
GiGi’s Playhouse is a wonderful organization not just for the parents and kids who bring life into it but for every volunteer that decides to partake in the wonderful movement as well.
Thank you to all the staff, families, and volunteers I encountered that welcomed me with such open arms.
I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my summer any other way!
We will so miss your always cheerful and positive attitude; your williness to help with any project, large or small; and the joy you brought into the PH each and every day. Thank you for helping to start our adult programming, and for always having a lap to sit on for our little ones. Good luck in all you do and wear your t-shirts proudly!
