Volunteer Spotlight: Hannah Gillon – Making a Difference at GiGi’s Playhouse

At GiGi’s Playhouse, volunteers are the heart of everything we do. This month, we are thrilled to highlight Hannah Gillon, whose dedication, energy, and passion for inclusion is making a difference at GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo.

Meet Hannah Gillon

Hannah has been volunteering with GiGiFIT Teen & Adult for just over a year. As someone new to the area, she wanted to meet people and get involved in her community. Introduced to GiGi’s by Annalise, Hannah instantly fell in love with our programs, the warm smiles, and our mission of inclusion and acceptance.

“Being new to the community and having changed schools often as a child, I know how hard it can be to feel included,” Hannah shares. “I wanted to ensure everyone felt included and loved!”

Hannah’s Favorite Part about Volunteering

Hannah’s favorite part of volunteering is the connections she builds with participants. She loves hearing about their day, school, work, or upcoming events. The high fives, smiles, and hugs at the end of class are a reminder of the positive impact she makes.

“My goal is always to make a positive impact on their day,” Hannah says.

How Hannah Contributes

At GiGiFIT Teen & Adult, Hannah helps lead group workouts, demonstrating that exercise can be fun while accommodating varying skill levels. Classes often end with a team obstacle course, emphasizing movement, balance, and teamwork—a favorite moment for both participants and volunteers alike.

In addition to her hands-on volunteer work, Hannah recently joined the GiGi’s Playhouse Board, further supporting the mission of inclusion and acceptance for all.

Impact of Volunteering

One of Hannah’s most memorable moments involved a participant who was shy and nervous during class. By providing encouragement and giving her space, Hannah helped her feel comfortable. After class, the participant gave Hannah a big hug—a simple yet powerful confirmation of the impact volunteers can have.

“It made me so proud to know I had made her feel safe, comfortable, and supported,” Hannah recalls.

For Hannah, volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse is more than a community activity—it’s a personal highlight.

“Coming to GiGi’s is the best part of my day! Even if I’ve had a hard day, all of that is forgotten when I see their smiling, excited faces,” she says.

Being named Volunteer of the Month is a great honor, but Hannah emphasizes that the joy, connections, and lessons she has gained are priceless.

“Thanks to GiGi’s for brightening my days!”
