So Much to be Thankful For…

It’s Thanksgiving week already!  I always struggle a little with this holiday… it comes up so quickly after Halloween and it tends to get overlooked due to the excitement for Christmas.  But, I think it’s very important that we at GiGi’s take the time to celebrate our families and be thankful for all that we have been given.

Please read this powerful article from downsyndromepregnancy.org –  a simple list of quotes from moms, giving thanks for their children with Down syndrome.  Their short excerpts express inspiration, strength, and belief.

I’ll get you started with a couple quotes that stood out to me:

FROM SUSANNA: We are so thankful for the gift of our precious daughter Verity. Before Verity, we had no idea that an extra chromosome meant adding extra dimension to life! We just love, love, love everything about her!

FROM MERIAH: I am deeply thankful that I kept Moxie. Through the hardest times after the amniocentesis – when all I had were my dark fears, deep anxieties, and prejudice. I am so very thankful that I kept her, this precious girl. She is the light of my heart, my Joy Baby. Darling daughter of delight, she is. If only I had known … I could have spent 5 months eagerly anticipating her rather than mourning. Marvelous Moxie.

We wish you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING from GiGi’s Playhouse.  We are very thankful for each and every one of our families, our community, and of course, for extra chromosomes!

*Don’t forget to stop by on Friday for our Open Play – Black Friday Pit Stop!   Also, check our calendar – due to the holiday, our hours are different for the week 🙂

Many blessings!

I am thankful for Max and the joy and happiness he brings to our part of the world. Half little devil and half sweet angel, he is my perfect boy. I wouldn’t want him any other way!
