Heartfelt Why’s: Our Passion for GiGi’s Playhouse Mission

At GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo, our mission to foster a more inclusive and supportive community is fueled by the deep-rooted ‘why’ each member of our team carries. Today, some of our team, open our hearts to share personal motivations that drive us to further the mission of GiGi’s Playhouse.

Andrea’s Why

Every day, Andrea wholeheartedly shows up for GiGi’s Playhouse, fueled by a profound understanding of inclusivity. Growing up with a sibling with Down syndrome, GiGi’s Playhouse is not just a cause for Andrea but an integral part of who she is. Her unwavering commitment is driven by a desire to see GiGi’s Playhouse thrive and make a lasting impact.

Annalise’s Why

Learning about her daughter Lakyn’s Down syndrome diagnosis brought Annalise both worries and clarity. Lakyn became a source of purpose, propelling Annalise to be a leader in serving others. Joining the board became an opportunity to make a difference in equity and inclusion.

Courtney’s Why

For Courtney, every day at GiGi’s Playhouse is an honor and privilege. Her “why” is illuminated by her brother, Nick, a beacon of joy with Down syndrome. Working at GiGi’s is a heartfelt journey of giving back to a community that Courtney wishes had been there for her brother during their childhood.

Drew’s Why

Drew’s dedication to GiGi’s Playhouse stems from a childhood friendship that inspired a desire to positively impact the lives of individuals with special needs. Joining the board is her personal mission to advocate for a community that values everyone’s potential and fosters inclusivity.

Heather’s Why

Heather’s ‘why’ transcends diagnoses; she celebrates abilities and sets high expectations for everyone she encounters. Her advocacy extends beyond the participants, aiming to instill in her daughter the values of inclusion, service, and kindness, shaping a more accepting community.

Kellie’s Why

After receiving her daughter’s prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome, Kellie immersed herself in learning all she could about Down syndrome. It was her mission to make sure her daughter would have every opportunity her siblings have and never let her diagnosis be a barrier to what she wants to accomplish in life. When Bryn was born, GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo was just an idea, a concept yet to be brought to life by other determined parents. Kellie knew from the first minute she learned about the dream to open GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo, that she would do whatever she could to support the mission to make the dream a reality. Her passion to serve is continuously fueled by the impact GiGi’s has had on her daughter helping Bryn develop into the amazing child she is!

Lexi’s Why

Lexi, an elementary teacher, discovered her passion while teaching students with Down syndrome. Their stories inspired her to be a vocal advocate. Joining GiGi’s Playhouse, Lexi contributes to our mission of global acceptance. Her commitment echoes a profound understanding of inclusivity, creating a brighter, more inclusive future.

Stefanie’s Why

As a board member, Stefanie’s passion lies in promoting women and children’s health, aiming to reduce disparities and foster inclusivity in the community. Her service is an honor, and she values the relationships built with other board members.

Trisha’s Why

As a board member, Trisha’s love for her daughter has continued to fuel her even in the hardest moments. Nonprofit work has long, grueling days filled with passionate people and conflicting personalities. But her “why” will always remain the same. She does it for her daughter, and her friends. She does it so they will never know a world that doesn’t accept them. They will never know a world in which they are not greeted with smiles and friendly nods to their family members.

Trisha is so grateful to live in a generation, and in a community, that so openly supports those with disabilities, especially those with Down syndrome. That extra chromosome might have some challenges associated with it, but the joy and happiness it brings to our lives overshadow every single one.

In our ‘why’s, you glimpse the passion, dedication, and love that propels GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo forward. Together, we are a beacon of hope, committed to creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

Join us on Giving Hearts Day and be part of our journey towards ‘Best of All’!
