A Note from a Parent
Friends,
As I look at the list of accomplishments for 2012 at GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines I can’t help but smile. As I remember some of the key events and the specifics about some of those times this past year again I can not help but smile! Perhaps that is what makes GiGi’s so special. We should seldom if ever be there and not be smiling. If we embrace the journey we all are undertaking our “smiles” should remind us of just how fortunate we are. We have been given a gift and how we handle that gift is up to us. This group has decided to embrace the opportunity to make a difference and to do so with a passion that is getting less and less common in today’s society. We are also extremely blessed to have as many volunteers as we do. When I watch Teah’s literacy tutor interact with her it amazes me how much a volunteer can give and mean to our children and how they can love them just as we do.
We have watched the worst in society play out over the news the last 72 hours and we saw another slice of it earlier today in my home town of Pella. Unfortunately the news cycle is much more focused on the negative than the positive however when I look at what the GiGi’s family has accomplished this year I think we have a pretty “darn” good story to tell. What a difference a small band of folks and their friends can make.
The future has never been so bright for our special children and my thanks to each of you for contributing to that limitless future. May you all have a wonderful holiday season and most importantly a very blessed Christmas.
Thank you,
Troy Hugen
