Why GiGi’s | Samantha’s Story
We are the Carter family, and our why started with Aerith. Aerith is a fourteen-year-old high school girl with an infectious laugh, the biggest heart there is and a personality to match. Aerith is the oldest of the Carter kiddos and between self-advocacy, juggling high school responsibilities and her younger brother and sister, she has her hands full! She’s an inspiration to everyone she meets. Her kindness and compassion are the best medicine on the planet.
GiGi’s Playhouse is the culmination of so much hard work and passion from so many folks poured into one common good—a brick and mortar place for people with Down syndrome and their friends and families to come together to learn and grow in a community. Everyone deserves to be included. Everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential. Everyone deserves a place to belong. Aerith was our first why, but she is far from our last.
