Best of All: Rising Star Emma

Nobody puts Emma in a corner!

Emma has been wanting to attend a dance class for a long time. So, when we stared our Dance and Yoga program they jumped at the opportunity. Every Wednesday night we’d see Emma on the dance floor improving skills in memorization of the new routine, and body coordination to perform the moves. She rarely missed a week without coming. We were only a little surprised when she hobbled out on the floor wearing a cast from her toes up to just below her knee. Emma was bound and determined to learn that dance routine and perfect her skills. She wasn’t going to let broken bones get in her way!

Let’s Take This Show on the Road

Emma and her twin sister Elena attend summer camp up in Wisconsin at JCC Camp Chi. Emma attends JCC Camp Chi through a partnership with Keshet This sleep away camp provides an opportunity for kids with special needs to be completely immersed in programs with their typical peers. Keshet also works with other camps and schools to set up a successful atmosphere of inclusion. Campers can stay anywhere from 4 days to 8 weeks. Typical summer camp programs are offered like swimming, arts and crafts, and hiking. Emma and Elena had their eye on the performing arts part of camp. Emma taught Elena the routine she learned at GiGi’s Playhouse, and they performed it in front of more than one hundred people at camp! The whole routine lasts just longer than a minute and the girls nailed it. The bond and pride shared by these two girls is immeasurable. Check out the video on our facebook page.

Keep our kids Dancing and other programs going

Are you ready to Get Down?  Get ready for the best three hour dance party EVER on Saturday, September 22nd from 2:00 – 5:00pm at DePaul College Prep High School.   Enjoy an awesome DJ, great snacks, amazing raffle prizes, and a groovin’ good time.

We raised nearly $35,000 last year and have set a higher goal of $50.000 this year.   100% of the funds raised at the event will directly beneft our playhouse and continue to keep it flourishing.  While our programs are free to our families, they are not free for us to provide.

Register as individual or start a team and raise some money for the Playhouse you’ve come to love so much. You could even create a team for your student (Movin’ for Mira, Awesome Alexis, etc.) but check in with the student’s family first.  If you don’t want to create your own team, join the Chicago Playhouse team.

Or, maybe you work for a company that could be a sponsor. We have great sponsorship opportunities available. This document outlines the different sponsorship levels and benefits.  Let us know if any questions or if you need any additional information.
