Join Us Again for our 4th Annual Dance-A-Thon
Show us your newest dance moves at our 4th Annual Get Down With Down Syndrome Dance-A-Thon!
What is the Get Down With Down Syndrome Dance-a-thon?
The Get Down With Down Syndrome Dance-A-thon is a three-hour dance party, complete with a DJ, fun and games, a photo booth provided by Picture Day, and great snacks.
When and Where is it?
The dance-a-thon is on Saturday, September 22 from 2:00 – 5:00pm at DePaul College Prep High School at Addison and California. Free parking available in an adjacent parking lot, along with street parking. If it is unseasonably hot like last year, DePaul has given us the go-ahead to move the dancing into the air-conditioned cafeteria! Otherwise, we will be boogie down in the gym.
Why have a dance-a-thon?
GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago was looking for a fun, low-cost event that would appeal to our families and to everyone! Who doesn’t like to dance?? The dance-a-thon has been vital for raising the additional money we need to keep our playhouse flourishing. While all of our educational and therapeutic programs are free to our families, they are not free for us to provide. The money raised keeps our doors open and lights on while also allowing us to expand programs.
How do I sign-up and participate?
It’s so easy! Go to our event page and you can sign up as an individual, create a team, or join a team. We encourage everyone to create a team which makes fundraising even more fun. The top fundraising team, the team with the most spirit and the team with the most members will receive special recognition on a plaque at the playhouse. We have these amazing Top 10 Tips from a Top Team Captain to help you with your own fundraising. You can also share on social media, pictures and videos are always best!
Who can register?
Everyone! All ages are welcome. We want to pack the gym with dancers. Help us raise money to create a world of ACCEPTANCE for all. Registration includes a free t-shirt! We also LOVE groups to join us and welcome back St. Viator Girl Scout Cadettes this year. They won the “Most Team Spirit” award last year and we have a feeling they are going to tough to beat this year!
My daughter Valerie is a freshman at DePaul and would like to volunteer for the dance.
How would she go about doing this?
Thank you
Valerie
She should talk to Florence Merkel at school.
