DePaul’s Day of Service

DePaul University freshmen were busy with the “Discover Chicago” class last week. The course highlights disability culture in Chicago, universal design and inclusive practices, disability allyship, and exposure to the multiple resources available to people with disabilities in Chicago. Professors Molly Bathje and Erica  K. Godfrey guided their class in a day of service bringing 22 students to GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago to help prepare the site for a new season of programming. Three GiGi’s Playhouse interns helped lead the charge – Quincy gave the students a tour of the facility, Diego organized cleaning, and Luis facilitated the freshmen in giving the building a shine by washing all the windows. The event ended with pizza and socializing, and the professors, students, and interns shared their opinions on the experience.
