Beginning in May, we’ll begin producing a Chicago-only newsletter focusing specifically on GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago happenings, volunteer and donor spotlights, and inspirational success stories.
The newsletter will also include a printed calendar, as a one-stop shop for all the important things happening at the Playhouse during the month. It’s like our online calendar, but you can post it on your refrigerator. If you’d like to begin receiving our printed newsletter, send us your mailing address at chicago@gigisplayhouse.org.

A Mountain Adventure
GiGi’s Playhouse, in tandem with the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colo., is hosting a Mountain Adventure Vacation, August 9-13, geared specifically for children with Down syndrome and their families. Promising to be a vacation you’ll never forget, activities include river rafting, rock climbing, a ropes challenge course and a family camp-out. $475 includes instruction by experienced guides, activities, gear, and meals during program activities. Want to have fun while earning some cash for GiGi’s at the same time? Volunteer at this year’s Ribfest, June 8-10. The organizers of Northcenter’s biggest event have set aside 30 shifts (and will give us $50/shift) to fill on Saturday, June 9 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get a group together (Dads of GiGi’s, Perhaps?) and have some fun, all in support of a great cause. (Did we mention you’ll get a T-shirt and free admission to the event?) Let’s fill as many shifts as we can! Our annual event returns. Let’s get together for a morning of fun and frolic at the Arboretum Shopping Center of South Barrington. Registration is now open. Get a team together and sign up here.
Donor Focus
This week, we salute Gina Crovetti, of the John Felice Rome Center. Last week, Gina completed the Roma Marathon on behalf of GiGi’s and the Beazley family (who are from Chicago but are currently living in Rome). Not only did Gina complete the race, but she raised money and awareness for us from half a world away. Gina says she plans on visiting the Playhouse this summer when she returns to Chicago. We’ll be sure to greet her with the hugs she deserves.
