A message from Feba, Kelly, and Caroline – UIC OT Students

Hi GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago! Our names are Feba, Kelly, and Caroline, and we are students in the occupational therapy doctorate program at UIC. We were given the amazing opportunity to lead groups for GiGi’s Adult Kitchen and Teen Tastic this summer, and we had the best time. During this time, we not only learned so much about lesson planning and leading group interventions, but also about GiGi’s awesome mission and community. What we will remember the most are the incredible people we met, and the privilege it was to work alongside everyone. In our cooking group, we prepared healthy homemade PopTarts and a fry flight featuring various fruits and vegetables. In Teen Tastic, we played Just Dance and learned about the benefits of exercise, and we hosted GiGi’s Olympic games and talked about the importance of teamwork.

We had so much fun, and we hope to return to GiGi’s soon! Thank you so much to everyone at GiGi’s Playhouse for welcoming us and teaching us so much!
