Celebrating Our 2025–2026 Youth Board
The 2025–2026 Youth Board truly embodied the spirit of Generation G this year through service, leadership, and genuine connection with our GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis families. From helping organize and support our World Down Syndrome Day Carnival to volunteering at events like Friendsgiving, cookie decorating, Trunk or Treat, and our Christmas celebration, these dedicated students consistently showed up with enthusiasm and heart.
This year’s Youth Board members made an impact in many different ways. Some focused on spreading awareness within their schools and communities, while others recruited volunteers, connected local businesses to our mission, and helped strengthen community support for the Playhouse. Several members rolled up their sleeves behind the scenes by assisting with daily operations, greeting families at the front desk, making copies, preparing materials, and stepping in wherever help was needed.
What stood out most was their willingness to build authentic relationships with participants and families. Whether dancing alongside participants at events, helping at holiday celebrations, or simply spending time together, these young leaders created an atmosphere of acceptance, inclusion, and joy.
The success of this year’s Youth Board would not have been possible without strong leadership and mentorship. We extend our sincere gratitude to former Board Vice President Katie Lewis, who played an integral role in overseeing and guiding the Generation G Youth Board before relocating out of state for a new opportunity. We were incredibly fortunate to have Amy Lewis step into this leadership role and continue the program with dedication, warmth, and enthusiasm. Her support, guidance, and commitment to our mission made a lasting impact on both the students and the Playhouse community, and we are deeply grateful for all she has done.
We proudly recognize Youth Board members Sloan, Thomas, Aaron, Megan, Maddie, Suraj, and Harper for the countless ways they supported GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis throughout the year. Their leadership, advocacy, creativity, and compassion helped strengthen our Playhouse community and further the Generation G mission of acceptance for all.
Through their compassion, initiative, and commitment to our mission, the Youth Board helped expand awareness of Down syndrome while making the Playhouse a warmer and more welcoming place for everyone who walked through our doors. We are incredibly grateful for the time, talent, and energy they shared throughout the year and look forward to seeing how they continue to lead and advocate in their communities.
Thank you to our outstanding 2025–2026 Youth Board for being true ambassadors of acceptance and Generation G.
