Achieving Our Best: GiGi Prep
This industrious group of young adults has been sharpening their communication, math, and job skills while creating delicious meals. They are also enhancing their mobility and strength through the GiGiFIT class, which they attend twice a week. As a class, they have participated in activities to raise awareness about the fantastic free programming offered by GiGi’s, foster community involvement, and express gratitude for those who support the Playhouse. Hannah was recently awarded the title of “Employee of the Month” at Eddie Bauer in Annapolis Mall. Alyssa, Eric, Joey, Emma, Hannah, and Olivia showcased their customer service and teamwork skills while working at the GiGi’s Stand at Navy Memorial Stadium. CJ took the lead in ensuring that food items collected for the Anne Arundel Food Bank were not expired and were sorted appropriately.
In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the class demonstrated their talents this month. They each wrote “thank you” notes decorated with Down syndrome ribbon stickers to be given to visitors at the Playhouse. Additionally, they made melted chocolate-covered pretzel rods using colors associated with Down syndrome and delivered them to all the offices in our building, along with a flyer to promote their food drive and showcase their warm, personable nature!
Here’s to a wonderful fall session filled with achievements, growth, and community involvement. We will celebrate their accomplishments during the GiGi Prep Program on November 14th!
