GiGi’s Playhouse 4th Annual 5k, Fun Run & Dash for Down Syndrome. Team Amy!

We are so excited of the upcoming 5k and we are happy to share another blog post with you from one of our Team Captains! If you are a Playhouse regular you are aware of how amazing our friend Amy is, she lights up a room with her smile, she makes everyone feel welcome with her warm hello and she is always the first to ask how she can help. We are so proud of Amy and so blessed to have her a part of our Playhouse. Pleas take a moment to ready why GiGi’s Playhouse 5k, Fun Run and Dash for Down Syndrome is important to her and her mother. If you don’t have a Team this would be a great one to join, you will be welcomed with very sweet open arms!

I am Amy Cavallaro I am so excited to have a team of my own to support me as well as GiGi’s Playhouse. The Playhouse means so much to me and I want everyone to know how important it is!
GiGi’s Playhouse 5k is imporant to me because we’re able to all come together and particpate in a fun activity all while raising money for this awesome place!
I believe GiGi’s Playhouse is imporant to the Syracuse community beacuse they are able to support and encourage families that have childeran with Down syndrome. Not only do they support the families, they help us find opportunities to better ourselves by volunteering, by teaching us things such as cooking & eating healthy, working out and group socialization. Every community should have a GiGi’s Playhouse. This is my team’s third year, I wanted to join and have a team behind me because I love being a part of a place that involves kids and adults with Down syndrome just like me!  My team’s fundrasing goal is $250.00, we are achieving this by handing out flyers, we are having tee-shirts made that we can wear around town and share about the GiGi’s Playhouse 5k on August 22nd.
I want poeple to know that no matter what I look like no matter what I sound like or the way I may do some things different I am glad to be me and just like my friend julie Tennat says I LOVE MY LIFE!

Hi I am Mary Cavallaro, Amy’s mom. I am representing Amy’s team this year, as I have the last two years. I am so proud to be on Amy’s team and to be able to say that she is my daughter!!
Amy and I are so excited about being in the 5K not only because we have fun but also because it is something Amy takes pride in being a part of. And I as her Mom love to see her shine and feel like such an important part of such a special event!!! Gigi’s has given her this opportunity not only to be involved in the 5K but every activity that takes place there.
It is a wonderful place for individuals with Down syndrome of all ages to be, express themselves and feel comfortable doing so.
And as a Mom I appreciate so much the environment they provide which not is only a productive one but also fun and safe for all ages.
Amy’s goal this year is to reach $250.00 which she surpassed last year and we hope to do the same this year!! GO AMY!! We love you!!!
Thank you Gigi’s..Amy’s mom!!!

Hey Amy, I’m a bit older now and over weight. I’m mostly bald and my knees don’t work as good as they should. What I’m trying to say is that I can’t run! But I have followed your exploits with the Syracuse Playhouse and it is such an honor to tell you how proud I am of your continuing efforts. It is a delight to be the 1st to donate to your team. I encourage others to do likewise. My best to you and your team members on 5K day. Amy, you are already a winner! Big Love! Richard Reilly – The Grandparent Connection.

Richard, you continue to make the Syracuse Playhouse smile and feel encouraged. Thank you to both you and your beautiful bride for being such a wonderful encouragement to not only us but all the GiGi’s Playhouse family! xoxo

Hey Mr. Reilly, Thank you so much for being the first person to donate to my team. I greatly appreciate it. Your donation is going to go a long way and there’s no better way to donate then the Gigi’s Playhouse! Thank you again so much!!!! -AMY
