Eight Years And Counting!

This month, I celebrate eight years of employment at GiGi’s Playhouse Westchester, marking nine years since I first stepped through those doors and was utterly mesmerized. My daughter often reminds me that I found my happy place because of her.

Nine years ago, I volunteered alongside her and her Girl Scout troop at the Annual Holiday Party. I was captivated by the atmosphere and the sense of community. It was truly magical, and I haven’t left since.

During these past nine years, I have worn many hats, learned new skills, and helped develop new programs. Witnessing our participants’ growth and becoming part of this incredible community has been a fantastic experience.

I am beyond excited for the new year and all the excellent opportunities it will bring. Much work must be done as we prepare to reopen in the first few months of 2025. Our families and volunteers are eagerly anticipating our new home! We asked them what they are most looking forward to, and their responses are a testament to the joy and excitement our new Playhouse will bring.

“We look forward to connecting with other families and engaging in impactful programs like cooking and tutoring!” Mom to Ana, aged 8.

“Looking forward to reconnecting with Millie’s amazing tutor again!” Mom to Millie, aged 15.

“Maya can’t wait to reunite with her friends in person and cook in the brand new kitchen classroom! She loves getting together to socialize, learn new recipes, and practice her cooking skills. She also looks forward to GiGiFIT; she has missed exercising with her teacher and friends and is getting stronger!” Mom to Maya, aged 16.

As a volunteer, I look forward to having the resources and community connections available to help young adults enhance their independent living skills and ultimately achieve desired employment goals.” Kathy, volunteer

GiGi’s Westchester has been such an outstanding resource for our family.  Our daughter loves participating in the enrichment programs, sports clinics, parties, and classes GiGi’s Westchester provides.  She has especially benefited from the amazing literacy tutoring.  GiGi’s offers many perfect and fun opportunities for growth, development, and strong social connections.  The thoughtful and dedicated staff go above and beyond to provide meaningful programming and space for individuals with downs & their families to come together.  We can’t wait for the new space to open and are most excited for our daughter to reconnect with her friends in a safe, supportive, and familiar space.” Mom to Avery, aged 13.

I loved being included in the NYSE Closing Bell opportunity to close out WDSD 2024.
