Welcome to our Community Resources page! Here at GiGi's Playhouse Wausau, we are dedicated to providing support and valuable information to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Below, you'll find a curated list of local and national resources that offer a wide range of services, including healthcare, education, advocacy, and recreational activities.
- Adaptive Communities: A social activity center for adults with special needs, ages 18 to 64.
- Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin: promotes choice and independence through personalized education, advocacy, and access to services that prevent, delay, and lessen the impacts of aging and disabilities in the lives of adults.
- Alzheimer's Association: leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
- Autism Society of Central Wisconsin: exists to provide a community for individuals affected by autism, their families, and professionals who serve them.
- Birth to Three - State: an early intervention special education program. It helps children under the age of 3 who have delays or disabilities. Marathon, Lincoln, & Langland Counties
- Camp Daniel: rooted in its summer camping program that offers people with disabilities access to safe and fun Northwoods camping experiences.
- Children's Resource Center: a resource for families with children (0-22) who have any type of disability or need help finding a diagnosis.
- CI Pediatric Therapy Centers: provide a comprehensive support system for individuals with special needs and their families through the highest quality therapeutic services. Wausau Location
- DSAW: provide support to Wisconsin families and individuals with Down syndrome and related disabilities.
- Down Syndrome Diagnostic Network: national resource providing real time connections to parents of a child with Down syndrome through private, moderated online groups.
- Extreme Dream Team: group that offers cheerleading experiences to those with special needs.
- GT Mobility & Services, LLC: assist our clients in mobility so they can Be There for routine daily activities and special life events.
- HART Equine Therapy: provide equine-assisted services for individuals of all ages and economic status that are overcoming a challenge, have special needs, or at risk.
- Headwaters, Inc: we exist for the purpose of providing individualized services that are designed to maximize each person’s daily living and vocational skills in order to be integrated into the community to the fullest extent possible.
- Inclusa: manages the provision of a person-centered and community-focused approach to long-term care services.
- Lakeland Cares: Helps elders and adults with disabilities live independently at home and in the community in which they reside.
- Lumind Down Syndrome Foundation: national organization that serves as a bridge between the Down syndrome community and the research community.
- Midstate Independent Living Consultants, Inc: services include Information and Referral, Advocacy Services, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Support, Transition Services, Community Education, Accessible Recreation, Representative Payee Program, IRIS Program, and Personal Assistant Services (PAS).
- Music Therapy Services of North Central WI: improve the quality of life for all individuals through music, especially children and adults with development/neurological needs, illnesses, or those going through life changing events that impact independence, connection, or comfort.
- National Down Syndrome Congress: national resource of support and information for anyone touched by or seeking to learn about Down syndrome, from the moment of diagnosis, whether prenatal or at birth, through adulthood.
- National Down Syndrome Society: empowers individuals with Down syndrome and their families by driving policy change, providing resources, engaging with local communities, and shifting public perceptions.
- North Central WI Special Olympics: provides year-round sports opportunities for thousands athletes across the state, regardless of age or skill level. GiGi’s Playhouse Wausau currently offers Young Athletes programming.
- Opportunity Development Center (ODC): empower people with disabilities to achieve their work and life goals.
- Penguin Project: provides a supportive environment for children with disabilities to explore their creative talents.
- Stable Hands Equine Therapy: enhance the quality of life for individuals through the use of equine-assisted activities and therapies.
- Wisconsin Lions Camp: dedicated to providing quality camp experiences for Wisconsin youth and adults with disabilities.
