Meet Genevieve: Spreading Joy Through Virtual Volunteering

At GiGi’s Virtual Playhouse, our volunteers make all the difference! This week, we’re spotlighting Genevieve, who leads Kids Club virtually every week, bringing joy and connection to participants.

Finding GiGi’s Virtual Playhouse

After graduating college, Genevieve moved to Gainesville, FL, eager to get involved in her community. Having previously volunteered with organizations like Make-A-Wish Foundation and Best Buddies, she knew she wanted to continue working with kids. When she discovered GiGi’s Playhouse, she was thrilled to find a place where she could make a meaningful impact while learning from an incredible community.

Bringing Fun and Learning to Kids Club

Genevieve wears multiple hats at GiGi’s Virtual Playhouse, serving as both a One-on-One Math Tutor and the Kids Club Leader.

As a Math Tutor, she helps her student practice real-world math skills—with plenty of Taylor Swift karaoke breaks along the way! In Kids Club, Genevieve leads fun, themed activities that focus on building social and language skills. Each session highlights a special theme like friendship or gratitude, with engaging crafts, interactive games, and plenty of laughter. From “Would You Rather” to guessing Disney songs, Kids Club is a place where friendships grow and confidence soars.

Cherished Moments

For Genevieve, the most memorable moments come from watching friendships blossom. Seeing participants celebrate each other’s birthdays, bond over their shared love of cats, or simply share about their day makes every session special. Witnessing these connections, even in a virtual setting, reminds her why she loves being part of GiGi’s Playhouse.

Life Outside of Volunteering

When she’s not leading Kids Club, Genevieve works as a Genetic Counseling Assistant in a pediatric clinic. She aspires to attend Genetic Counseling Graduate School to become a Genetic Counselor in the future.

Why You Should Volunteer

Genevieve wholeheartedly recommends volunteering with GiGi’s Playhouse! She plans to continue throughout graduate school and beyond because of the joy and fulfillment it brings.

“This organization is so special and teaches me so much each week. The opportunity to meet so many incredible friends and watch them grow is extremely impactful. The GiGi’s community is wonderful, and I encourage everyone to get involved in a way that fits their talents and interests!”

Inspired by Genevieve’s story? Join us as a volunteer and be part of something truly special!
