Kayla’s Korner

We are excited to be bringing a new monthly feature to the Syracuse Blog, Kayla’s Korner. Our Assistant Site Coordinator will be sharing her point of view on a new topic each month. This month we will talk about bullying. We hope you will enjoy and leave some feedback for her. Have something you would like to learn more about? Let Kayla know!

Let’s Talk About Bullying.

Bullying is a form of unwanted abuse that is strongly inappropriate. It can be done on a computer which is cyber bullying, physically or verbally.

Physical bullying means hurting someone intently like if someone pushing you down. I had an experience when I was in 7th grade and I got pushed down in the hallway with a fractured tailbone, and was out of school for the week.

I was also bullied verbally. People called me names like using the “R” word, teased me and people spread rumors about me and behind my back and of course this is untrue. While in school I was a main target for people to bully. Bullies fight the battles that they think they can win.

Cyber bullying can be done on any social media sites like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Posting anything meant to hurt someone is cyber bullying. It could be pictures  or mean comments you make. My personal advice  to you to be careful what you say once it’s posted you can’t take it back or erase it. So be careful what you say and do. Always choose to be kind.

I believe in being advocate! I think standing up for yourself is something we all can do. lf you think that you are being bullied go to someone you trust, tell them and be honest. If you see someone getting bullied  tell someone. My piece of advice from me to you don’t stand there and watch a bully speak up. If you don’t then it will happen even more frequently. I want my friends safe so please always think before you speak. Just be yourself and not someone your not.

Thank you Kayla! GiGi’s Playhouse is proud of the work Kayla does in our community. She is a goal setter and a goal getter, this year we where so thrilled to nominate her of the 40 under 40 Awards and even more excited when she was chosen! We will be celebrating with Kayla on November 16th. Please help us congratulate her. <3
