Community Relationships: Exploring Space and Making Connections at the Roberson Museum

Some of our adult participants recently enjoyed an unforgettable adventure at the Roberson Museum and Science Center, where they spent the afternoon exploring, learning, and making memories together.
With temperatures soaring on one of the hottest days of the summer, the museum was the perfect place to escape the heat while embarking on an exciting journey through history, science, and space.
Before the planetarium show began, our group was treated to a special opportunity to explore the museum exhibits with plenty of room to wander and discover at their own pace. From fascinating displays to interactive exhibits, everyone had a chance to follow their curiosity and share their excitement with friends. Seeing the smiles, laughter, and genuine sense of wonder on everyone’s faces made this part of the day especially meaningful.

When it was time for the planetarium presentation, our participants eagerly found their seats, settled in, and looked up in anticipation. The immersive show took us on a journey through space, introducing us to planets, stars, and the incredible universe beyond our own. There were plenty of “wows” throughout the presentation as we learned something new together.
After our voyage through the stars, the fun continued as we were welcomed into the beautiful ballroom of the historic Roberson House. It provided the perfect setting for everyone to enjoy their packed lunches, relax, and spend time connecting with friends. Conversations, laughter, and shared experiences filled the room, reminding us that some of the best moments happen when we simply have the opportunity to be together.
Community outings like this are about so much more than visiting a new place. They provide opportunities to build friendships, gain confidence, explore new interests, and experience the world together in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Every adventure helps create meaningful memories while fostering independence and lifelong learning.
A heartfelt thank you to the Roberson Museum for helping make this special day possible and for providing such a warm and welcoming experience for our participants. We can’t wait to see where our next adventure takes us!
