4th Annual Golf Outing- Recap!

GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento’s FOREth annual golf outing was a fun and eventful day as expected every year.  The golf outing took place on September 25, 2023, at the beautiful Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln, CA, and for the fourth year in a row, we had a sold-out field with 146 golfers in attendance!

As tradition goes, we started our day with breakfast burritos, coffee, and the infamous Bloody Mary Bar! On full display at registration, our generous presenting sponsor, Niello BMW of Sacramento and Elk Grove, displayed three beautiful BMW vehicles.

Every year it is exciting to see so many familiar faces and new ones too. We feel so lucky to have such a committed group of golfers join us every year, some of whom have played in every golf outing since we started!  Let’s keep this annual tradition going!

This year we had one particularly special foursome, our Fairway Friends, which included several of our self-advocates teeing it up on the course.  It was exciting and very special to have our Fairway Friends join us this year, and we can only hope that more and more of our self-advocates will join us in the future.

This year the course was packed with activities, food, beverages, and all-around good times.  Not to mention we loved seeing golf carts decorated with pictures of loved ones with Down syndrome! This too is becoming quite the tradition and is a special way to remind us of why we are all there.

On the course, golfers were able to take the Generation G pledge to Be Generous, Be Accepting, and to Be Kind.  Golfers enjoyed beverages donated by Auburn Ale House, Tito’s Vodka and Grocery Outlet Midtown Sacramento, and food from Busy Bee’s Cupcakes, Dave’s Dawgs, Leatherby’s, Dad’s Kitchen, and Old Town Pizza.  Golfers also go to participate in activities like the “Fastest Par 3” hole, corn hole, and even a Blackjack game that ended up being a big hit!

All the fun on the golf course was followed by our banquet dinner/awards ceremony where golfers and banquet attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet, while also getting in last-minute raffle ticket purchases and bids to our wonderful silent auction items that were graciously donated by so many.  Our raffle prizes included a TaylorMade Stealth Driver and Wood set and a pair of floor seats to a Kings game generously donated by Moss Adams.  For silent auction items, there were too many good ones to name!

A special congratulations to all of our winners!  We hope this continues to be a sold-out event and hope this continues to be a golf outing our players look forward to every year.  A very special thank you to our generous sponsors, golfers, and of course our volunteers!  In addition to the loyal golfers we see every year, we also have an amazing group of volunteers who take time out of their busy day to help make this golf outing special.

Lastly, thank you to the committee for the hard work that goes into planning the golf outing, particularly our two co-chairs, Kim Francis and Tricia McKinley.  We can’t thank everyone enough and we hope to see everyone again next year!
