Parents’ Choices

A family recently told us that as they considered the idea of a potential relocation (moving south), there were a few key factors that kept them in the Rockford area – and we were one of them. 

When Rogelio was transitioning out of the public school system, his family discovered GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford. Rogelio quickly became involved in so many programs! His father, Enrique, says,  “He loves each one of the programs he’s involved in. He also enjoys the gold standard of kindness that all the personnel and volunteers practice as they engage with each participant. Every single activity is set for inclusiveness, a sense of joy, and love for him and all the participants.”

Not only is Rogelio involved in so many of our programs, but his parents have become incredible supporters of the Playhouse as well. They have taken the time to learn more about each program, attend our fundraisers, and continually ask how they can help. They are also seeing the impact of the Playhouse extend far beyond their son. They notice the friendships being formed, the confidence being built, and the positive effect these programs have on all of the participants who attend alongside him. 

Hearing these words leaves us speechless. It is a powerful reminder that the joy, passion, and hard work poured into the Playhouse truly make a difference—not just for one individual, but for an entire community. A second family, made up of all the individual families we serve. 

“It is amazing, unique, and definitely difficult to find somewhere else. We have made our decision to stay in the Rockford area long term, and an important piece of this decision is GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford. Our family feels it is a very good match for the present and for Rogelio’s future.”
