Imagination Is A Gift

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The greatest gift you can give a child is imagination,” and here at GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford, we could not agree more. The benefits of imaginative play are well documented. Individuals with Down syndrome, who most likely struggle with social, emotional, and language development, are sure to benefit from this type of play.  In addition to these critical areas, imaginative play has been shown to encourage independence and develop problem-solving skills.

There is something magical about watching a child use their imagination to create and find something new, and we love to provide that creative spark. At GiGi’s, we work hard to cultivate an environment where our participants jump in feet first on imaginative journeys, and you would not believe the fun we get into!

Our Monday morning program, Destination Discovery, is a perfect example of the imaginative fun we love to see. From traveling back to prehistoric times to hatch dinosaur eggs, turning ourselves into superheroes, or creating our own special critters, imagination runs wild through the Playhouse! Along with crafts that we encourage our participants to make on their own, we like getting up and moving with some games to get our wiggles out. We also love using our new Smartboard to sing and dance to some awesome songs before we wrap things up. So, if your child has a big imagination that they love to use, please join us for Destination Discovery on Monday mornings, from 9:30 – 11:30 am.   Click the following link to register gigisplayhouse.org/rockford/sfcalendar
