We are excited to announce that GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford will be launching a new GiGiFIT program in the coming months.  The GiGiFIT Program is designed to empower individuals with Down syndrome to develop independence and confidence in their abilities with an ultimate goal of mastering everyday tasks with less effort and minimal assistance. GiGiFIT will enhance a person’s quality of life through teaching healthy exercise habits and movements. Like many GiGi’s programs, GiGiFIT is designed to motivate and teach individuals with Down syndrome to achieve their highest potential in a goal-oriented environment.

GiGiFIT focuses on improving areas of fitness through activities focused on strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control, and more. GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, building self-confidence, and putting practical strategies into place. Participants in GiGiFIT are motivated by their peers both physically and emotionally as they strive for their own personal best.

We are planning to launch GiGiFIT Adult and Teen first.  Eventually, we hope to be able to offer GiGiFIT programming for Kids, Toddlers, and Infants.  One-hour sessions will be offered in 12-week blocks once a week, with additional take home provided to execute/practice program movements during their everyday life. Participants who are interested in GiGiFIT programming should initially plan to commit to at least one full 12-week block of sessions. Additionally, each participant must have a signed Physician Approval Form on file prior to starting the program.

If you are interested in volunteering for this awesome new program, please reach out to us ASAP. We are currently searching for program leads and volunteers to launch GiGiFIT Adult and Teen. You do not need to be an experienced fitness expert to lead or volunteer for this program.  There is an excellent training program developed by Dr. Mann and the experts at GiGi’s Playhouse, Inc.  The easy-to-follow videos and training guides provide step-by-step direction that allow motivated volunteers to lead our participants to improved fitness, increased confidence, and a healthier lifestyle.

If would like to sign your participant up for the GiGiFIT program OR if you are interested in volunteering for this exciting new program, please email us at to let us know!
