Celebrating Black History Month with GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville

February 1 marked the start of Black History Month.  Two of our participants, Hayden and Mackenzie, recreated a picture of Jamie Foxx and his sister DeOndra Dixon at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation Gala.

Hayden’s mom says “It was an honor for Hayden and Kenzie to celebrate Black History Month by recreating two black icons: Jamie Foxx and DeOndra Dixon. These two kids are absolutely not short on personality and captured Jamie and DeOndra perfectly!”

Jamie Foxx is an award-winning actor, singer, and Down syndrome advocate, thanks to his extraordinary sister DeOndra.  DeOndra was a dancer, Special Olympics athlete, Global Down Syndrome Advocate, and 2009 Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award Recipient.

GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville loves having Hayden and Mackenzie join us during programs. We are thankful for their shining personalities and being the young advocates that they are already!
