Why GiGi’s?

By Molly Ellner

At my high school, the seniors have the choice to do an internship. Ever since I was a Freshman, I knew that I wanted to do one. However, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I investigated many local businesses, but nothing seemed to match what I had in mind.
Ever since a young age, I have been involved in the special needs community. For the past 6 years, I have volunteered with an organization called STARS, Students That Are Really Special and have been a part of Best Buddies throughout my high school career. I can’t imagine my life or who I’d be without meeting the people I’ve met.

Truly, the friends I made in these organizations are so special. So naturally, when I heard about GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee, I was very interested. I spoke with a Board Member and was immediately hooked.

GiGi’s mission is something I stand by 100%. I wanted to do whatever I could to be a part of this wonderful organization. I couldn’t be any happier with volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse. My favorite part of the week is going to TEAM on Thursday’s. I’ve grown so close with many of our awesome participants.

Molly is shown here in the middle stretching as she played Twister with other TEAM participants.
