Volunteer Spotlight: Past Treasurer Mike W.

From the moment Mike W. said “yes” in 2019, GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee gained more than a treasurer. We gained a steady hand, a strategic thinker, and a generous, no-nonsense leader who deeply believes in our mission. Serving on the Board from 2019-2025, Mike brought both heart and discipline to his role. With an aunt who has Down syndrome and past volunteer experience with Special Olympics, his connection to our community runs deep. Six years turned into an unwavering commitment, thoughtful leadership, and genuine care for every family we serve.

As Treasurer, Mike took exceptional care of our finances and our books. He approached every spreadsheet, budget, and report with integrity and precision, ensuring that our resources were stewarded responsibly and transparently. He helped launch our Development Committee, strengthening our long-term sustainability and positioning us for future growth. He wasn’t flashy about it, he simply did the work, asked the hard questions, and told it like it is. Whether hosting a strategy session at his lake house or offering practical financial guidance at a board meeting, Mike always showed up prepared and focused on what was best for GiGi’s.

Of course, Mike’s time on the Board wasn’t all budgets and balance sheets. Many of us still remember the year he was absolutely determined to win the Party Wagon at Brew HaHa, and, true to form, he succeeded. That determination reflects who he is: committed, focused, and all in. As a dad of four and a new grandpa, Mike understands the importance of family and community. We are incredibly grateful for his steady leadership, his generosity, and the countless hours he dedicated to GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee. Thank you, Mike, for taking such great care of our mission, and our money, and for leaving our Playhouse stronger than you found it.
