Participant Best of All: Lucy M. & Theodore M.– Amina Grace Speech & Language 

Lucy and Theodore made tremendous progress in the Speech and Language program during the Spring session, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished!

Lucy had an exceptional session that truly impressed her clinicians. One of her main goals was to use 10 new words over the course of the session—but she surpassed that by a landslide, producing 37 new words (and she’s still adding more!). Her vocabulary has blossomed, and we were thrilled to see her begin using two-word combinations, such as “how about” and “thank you.” This is a major developmental milestone, and it reflects her growing confidence and communication skills. Lucy’s enthusiasm, determination, and progress have been nothing short of inspiring!

Theodore also made significant gains in his expressive communication through American Sign Language (ASL). At the beginning of the session, he was averaging about five signs per session. By the end, he had doubled that number, regularly using 10 or more ASL signs during each session. He expanded his vocabulary with fun and functional signs like “cookie,” “pizza,” and “cow,” and he began combining signs to express more complex ideas like “more + ball.” (Theodore loves playing with any type of ball! 🙂 These combinations show growing understanding of language structure and intentional communication. We are so proud of his hard work and steady progress!
