Crafting Connections: A Heartfelt Success at Our Wreath Workshop
There is something truly magical about what happens when creativity meets community. This Valentine’s Day season, GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee hosted a special Valentine’s Day Wreath Workshop, and the results were nothing short of inspiring.
The event invited the public to gather for an afternoon of crafting all while supporting a vital cause. Participants walked away with stunning heart-shaped wreaths, but the real masterpiece was the impact made: together, we raised just shy of $1,000 to fund our always-free programming for individuals with Down syndrome.
The heart of this event was our incredible instructor, Linda Laake of Linda Laake Designs. A professional with nearly two decades of experience working with people with disabilities, Linda brought her expertise in floral design and a compassionate, humorous touch to the workshop.
Most importantly, Linda donated her time and talent to ensure every dollar raised went directly to our Playhouse. Her ability to adapt the creative process for all skill levels perfectly mirrors the inclusive mission we strive for every day.
In the nonprofit world, we often say it takes a village, but it specifically takes partnerships. When local professionals like Linda and community members step up, the benefits are three-fold:
- Resource Amplification: Donations cover the overhead, allowing 100% of registration fees to act as a direct charitable contribution.
- Skill Sharing: Our community gains access to high-end instruction and new hobbies they might not have explored otherwise.
- Awareness: Events “Open to the Public” introduce new friends, sisters, and neighbors to the GiGi’s Playhouse mission, expanding our support network beyond our immediate families.
A huge thank you to everyone who registered, donated, and crafted with us. You didn’t just make a wreath; you helped provide educational and therapeutic tools that change lives.
