Thank You Mia, Lily, Jessica, Luke and Brody!
Closing the doors for in-person programming due to COVID-19 was a necessary decision for the safety of our program participants and volunteers. GiGi’s Playhouse quickly leapt into action and created GiGi’s at Home.
I was amazed by the number of volunteers who stepped up to create content and lead live programs. Within days of suspending operations, volunteers sent me videos to be used as part of the on-demand programs. Holly sent stories and worksheets, Katherine made occupational therapy-based videos, and Virginia created exercise videos using both Zumba and Drums Alive.
Brothers Brody and Luke have been leading Karate Kickers for over a year. Thanks to their dedication to GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough, the program has a weekly virtual program, every Thursday from 4:00- 4:30 PM EST.
Jessica has been volunteering at GiGi’s since we opened in 2015; she even created our Little Gymnasts program. With the help of her gymnastics students Lily and Jillian, she has started to run a weekly Friends, Fun and Fitness program every Saturday from 11:00- 11:30 AM EST. Lily has stepped up to create the weekly workout and lead sections of the workout during the program. Once our doors reopen for in-person programming, Lily would like to continue with the program as a permanent leader.
Keeping the teens on a regular schedule is Teen Tastic program leader Mia. She continues to lead the monthly social program the 4th Friday of the month from 6:30- 7:30 PM. The group has had a dance party and a couple game nights, and Mia is planning something special for the June program!
Without volunteers like Luke, Brody, Jessica, Lily and Mia, we would not be able to continue to offer virtual programs. Join the programs virtually by RSVPing on our online calendar and say thank you for their hard work!
