Thank You for Your Support!

These are unsure times for everyone. It seems as if the whole world is on hold during the pandemic. In the midst of all the change, we at GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough have been fortunate to see that some things remain constant: good people continue to do good, and our surrounding community is overflowing with individuals and small businesses whose support is unshakable.

** Since having to close the physical doors to GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough, we have moved programs to a virtual format, GiGi’s at Home! To make this happen, staff and volunteers have quickly stepped up to help deliver free therapeutic and educational programming to participants from the safety of home.

** Caryn and Michelle, the sisters who own and operate the Signing Time-based-business Happy Hands, immediately offered to create a video for our participants to enjoy. Reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and James Dean, the sisters teach participants signs for different colors. The video will soon be included as an on-demand video on the national page.

** Simply Sweets by Lauren had agreed to donate favors (GiGi’s-themed cookies) for the 6th Annual i have a Voice gala this past March. Upon learning the gala had been canceled, Lauren decided to “make something sweet out of a sour situation” and sell the cookies as a fundraiser for the Playhouse. In addition to selling the cookies, Lauren baked and auctioned off a custom cake, raising over $240.

** Saying “thank you” is a simple act of kindness we all should practice as often as possible and particularly during times of challenge.  With the help of participants and supporters, GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough has sent a heartfelt “thank you” to essential employees, front line workers, and first responders working so hard to keep us safe. First, we created a social media post featuring 13 program participants displaying expressions of gratitude.  Wanting to take that message far and wide, we looked for ways to create and post a banner outside of our building on Amwell Road. Without hesitation, Matt at Mailboxes Business Center offered to donate the cost of the banner!

** In an effort to bring the community together and to continue their support of GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough, Pinnacle Heath and Fitness is hosting its inaugural Plank-a-Thon on Sunday, April 26th at 11:00AM EDT! Everyone is invited to log onto the virtual gathering to plank in any way that is comfortable, keeping active while supporting a community organization.

** We have been working closely with Marblehead Marketing to design four new GiGi’s Playhouse shirts. Once the designs are finalized, the shirts will be available to buy online, and $10 from every shirt will be donated back to the Playhouse!

The acceptance, generosity and kindness shown to GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough is amazing, and the Board of Managers continues to be grateful for the support we receive from everyone in and around Hillsborough.
