Summer Reading with Shannon

Summer Reading with Shannon is a reading program targeted to all ages. The purpose of the program is to encourage everyone to read and gain a love for it.

Everyone who participates will have a folder kept at GiGi’s Playhouse, and will be given a log to take home to record their reading progress.  Reading progress will be measured in the amount of minutes a participants reads or is read to. Participants may read any reading material such as magazines, books on tape, books, or any other materials.  As each goal is achieved, participants receive additional entries for the grand prize.  Whenever a participant comes in to record their progress they will also be given a small prize.

The program will run for six weeks from July 1 to August 12, and readers can participate for any length of time with no minimum.  During that time, Shannon will hold program open hours at the Playhouse so participants have the opportunity to share and discuss what they have read at home. Participants can come and record their progress at any time during Playhouse open hours.

Email Shannon to sign up. Along with your reader’s name and age, include three topics of interest and current reading level.
