Recapping the Volunteer Round Table

On Monday, June 03, 2019, GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough Volunteer Coordinator Tom Boon and Playhouse Manager Liz Kepniss sat down with volunteers for a Volunteer Round Table. Over a dinner of pizza and salad, volunteers were given the opportunity to ask questions, share observations, and express concerns. Volunteers also learned about leadership opportunities, including current program leader and committee member needs.

Due to new programs added or current leaders moving on, we are in need of leaders for the following purposeful programs:

  • Destination Discovery (all ages)
Destination Discovery supports the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer-to-peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships.
  • Leaps & Bounds (ages 3- 5 years)
Leaps & Bounds promotes social, emotional, and large- and small-muscle-group development. Children will participate in fun and engaging activities that require movement and interaction with their environment.
  • LMNOP (ages 5 & under)
LMNOP is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities.
  • Playhouse Pals (ages 6- 9 years)
Playhouse Pals supports the development of social skills and language through peer-to-peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also fosters gross motor, fine motor, and self-help skills through a variety of games and activities.

Being a program leader is a once-a-month commitment and always comes with the support of the Playhouse Manager. Program leaders have access to program guides published by the National Office, as well as access to all the supplies and materials in the Playhouse.

Volunteering in the Playhouse is not the only way a volunteer can get involved; consider joining committee!

  • Gala
Help plan the annual i have a Voice Gala! In addition to securing event sponsors and silent auction donations, committee members assist with event planning, marketing, and execution.
  • 5K/Fall Festival
The annual Pinnacle Health & Fitness Charity 5K benefiting GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough always features a Fall Festival immediately following the race. Help plan the fun and games that our runners and their families look forward to!
  • Fundraising
Help create fundraising opportunities beyond the annual Gala and 5K!
  • Outreach
People are interested in learning more about GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough and what we do. As a member of the Outreach Committee you could be tasked with representing the Playhouse at an event or finding new venues to educate the community about the work done here.

Tom and Liz are always available to answer questions. They can be contacted at:
