A Royal Visit At The Playhouse

It can be a scary beginning for parents when they learn their child has Down syndrome, but Katlyn Aubitz is proof that a fairy tail awaits and a happy ending is almost certain when you embrace your child’s uniqueness.

Katlyn has Down syndrome. She’s also a princess and published author and this week Katlyn and her mother, Ann, paid a royal visit to GiGi’s Playhouse in Fargo.

FullSizeRenderFamilies in attendance were treated to dinner, conversation and inspiration as Katlyn read the children’s book she co-authored with her mother, “I am Princess Katlyn.” The book promotes acceptance and is a royal treat for all ages.

While Princess Katlyn ruled the GiGi’s stage, she did let her mom treat the audience to a reading from the other book they co-authored together, “Katlyn Conquers The World.” In it, Ann tells her own story of raising a daughter with Down syndrome, Katlyn’s rise to the throne, and the struggles along the way. The book is meant to be a resource for parents of children with Down syndrome but a quick flip through the pages will tell you it’s more than that. “Katlyn Conquers The World” offers hope and inspiration. Here’s just a snippit from the book’s introduction:

“The message is simple: parents with special-needs children should never think in limiting terms. Katlyn is proof that anything is possible.”

How true.

GiGi’s is a place where dreams are made and accomplishments are celebrated. Katlyn dreamed of becoming a princess. With the love and support of her parents, she made it happen at the Miss Amazing Pageant in St. Paul, MN. To top it off, she wrote a couple books. What an accomplishment!

Princess Katlyn and Queen Ann, we salute you! Thank you for gracing us with your presence. Your kingdom of fans won’t soon forget you.
