Back to School Time!

It’s August, which means school is going to begin! For most parents, this means back to school shopping for supplies, clothes and shoes, checking class lists, and excitedly sending kids off and celebrating another summer survived.  For us, it is largely the same, plus a little more, and maybe a bit different than expected.  We have an IEP meetings and a bit more preparation to make sure Eleanor is ready for her school year, including a customized communication log so her teachers and therapists at school can communicate easily with us about her day.  There are many modifications and accommodations in place to ensure she is successful in her classroom.

All of her successes in school (and in the community), can be traced back to GiGi’s Playhouse.  From infancy on, GiGi’s is there for families like ours. GiGi’s provided Eleanor therapeutic based, educational purposeful programs to help her learn, grow, and succeed from day one! At GiGi’s, Eleanor doesn’t need modifications to the programs – they are already designed for her and how she learns best!! She not only receives group programs with her peers, she receives 1 on 1 tutoring in speech and literacy.  Each and every program is created to allow every individual to reach their Best of All – a daily challenge to keep trying just a little bit more than the day before. Being able to walk into GiGi’s and knowing that the expectations for her success have been set high is a huge gift.  It allows her to always reach higher and to learn, grow, and succeed at GiGi’s, at home AND at school.  This allows us to prepare for school by shopping for supplies, clothes, and shoes, excitedly checking her class list, and celebrating another summer survived… just like every one else.
