State Representative Ann Williams Visits the Playhouse

This past week, we were honored to have State Representative Ann Williams come to the Playhouse for a tour!

Ryan, one of our interns, led the tour and had the opportunity to ask some great interview questions such as what she likes about being a State Representative and if she would like to know more about GiGi’s Playhouse. Rep. Williams expressed that her favorite part about being a State Representative is meeting various people from the community that she would have never been able to meet overwise, such as the GiGi’s community!

Rep. Williams discussed how she’s heard about GiGi’s Playhouse, but “until you tour or spend time with people engaged in the program you don’t understand”.

During the tour, Ryan showed State Representative Williams the Career Development Hub, which is currently being redesigned by Mikayla! Mikayla spoke about the design process and the new space being accessible for all people. Ryan demonstrated that the tables for the new space hub can be electronically adjusted to the height that the interns are comfortable working with.

After the tour, Lucy, another intern, connected with State Representative Williams via Facetime! Lucy prepared numerous questions for Rep. Williams to get a better sense of what she was like!

State Representative Williams showed her appreciation for hearing our community’s viewpoint stating, “What is important to you, needs to be important to me”. To end the day, Lily, a Playhouse participant, stole the show with her dance moves on the stage!

We are so grateful State Representative Williams could join us at the Playhouse for an informative, exciting afternoon! We cannot wait to continue to work together in the future!
