Backed by Berman

This summer, Berman Subaru of Chicago reached out to GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago to extend an invitation of support and partnership during COVID-19. Together we came up with the idea of creating tutoring kits for our participants that were enrolled in virtual math and literacy tutoring, an amazing opportunity to meet a need in our community. Berman wanted to make sure that our tutoring kids had everything they would usually use at our Playhouse for tutoring at home!

With this partnership, there was also a sincere intent to support local businesses, especially when sourcing materials for the tutoring kits for each student. So, Berman Subaru and GiGi’s collaborated with Chicago Teacher Store to get some of the supplies for the kits.

Items included in the kit were:

• Do A Dot Markers
• Unifix Cubes
• Sound spelling Cards
• White board
• Crayons, dry erase markers, pencils, pens
• Pencil cases
• Notebooks
• Berman water bottles
• GiGi’s branded hand sanitizer

Together, $1,000 was donated for this project and a total of 20 kits were made. Families were able to pick up the kits this month, just in time for the start of programs on September 14^th!

This is not the first time Berman Subaru’s generosity has extended to GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago. Through Subaru’s 2018-2019 Share the Love event, Berman Subaru was able to donate a percentage of sales for every Subaru sold. With over 300 cars sold, Subaru made a donation of $60,949; the largest, single donation GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago has ever received. Subaru of America also made special contributions to help make this feat possible. With this ongoing partnership and support, we continuously could not be more grateful for Berman’s Subaru support and kindness.
