Good Morning, GiGi’s Chicago Families. Our renovations are nearly complete, and we can say with some authority that the Chicago Playhouse looks fantastic! We can’t wait for you to see it when we start our summer session on June 13.But even before that, we’ve got a lot going on. This weekend is the NorthCenter Chamber of Commerce’s Ribfest, and we’ll be there. GiGi’s Playhouse will have a table in the Kids’ Square. We’ll be spreading awareness, giving out balloons and letting the kids play our bean bag toss game. If you’re in the neighborhood (and who wouldn’t want to be with all that barbeque), stop on by.
Don’t forget, this Sunday is the 8th annual Chicagoland 5K at the Arboretum Shopping Center in South Barrington. If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time to do so online, or you can register (for a slightly higher cost) on the day of the event. Not able to attend, but still want to contribute? Donate to our Chicago Playhouse team. But you really should come. We have several board members on the 5K committee and can attest it will be the best one yet.
That’s it. We’re back to our regular calendar (Open Play every Wednesday and every other Sunday, Drama Club on Friday and literacy tutoring) starting next week. And mark your calendars for a special seminar on developmental iPad Apps on July 11 (see the sidebar below for details).

Coming Soon: Technology Seminar
There truly is an app for everything. And when it comes to developmental opportunities, there are so many apps, it’s hard to know where to start.
Join us on July 11 as we partner with the Belle Center of Chicago for a presentation about using an iPad, iPhone or iTouch for special education, speech and other therapeutic applications, led by Assistive Technology blogger (and Morton Grove special educator) Patrick Black.
Bring your devices and get ready to walk out the door with a list of apps to keep your child occupied over the summer and ready for the next school year. Space is limited. RSVP via e-mail to chicago@gigisplayhouse.org.
