Giving Thanks (A Little Early)
With Fall Literacy tutoring coming to a close (and the Playhouse closed next week for the holiday), we’d like to take this time to give thanks for everything that we have at the Playhouse: great volunteers, a fantastic site coordinator, a dedicated board and fantastic families who have turned our little storefront into a thriving community center.

At a national board retreat last weekend, GiGi’s Playhouse Founder (and GiGi’s Mom) Nancy Gianni summed up the Chicago Playhouse with one word: Pride. We know exactly how she feels. Every time someone mentions our windows and the smiling faces looking out of them, or a parent or instructor talks about a program success, or a new family mentions the warmth and acceptance they get the minute they enter the Playhouse, we feel the same thing.

We’re thankful to everyone who has made the Playhouse what it is. And we’re thankful that it will be continuing on for years to come.

This e-mail blast will be taking next week off (due to a dearth of programming and the holiday). See you in two weeks.

Holiday Prep

Our Holiday Pageant and Party is fast approaching. This year — rather than jamming into the Playhouse — we’re going to have our party at Stage 773 (1225 W. Belmont) on Dec, 18, from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. There will be a holiday-themed performance from our Teen Drama Troupe, snacks and (if you’ve been good) a visit from a special guest. Jack

If you’re interested in helping out (planning, setting up, cleaning up) let us know at chicago@gigisplayhouse.org (we need about 7-10 volunteers to pull this off). Also, our space will be limited (to about 150), so RSVPs will be appreciated. (Plus, we’ll need to check that list twice.)
