A Letter from our Leadership Team - Annual Appeal 2021 - Chicago

Dear Friends,

Resilience has always been at the core of GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago. We continued to demonstrate our capacity to grow and thrive amidst challenging times in 2021. Of course, everything that we accomplished could not have been possible without the creativity and drive of our staff, participants, families, friends, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and many other supporters of our Chicago Playhouse.

As we embark on new adventures in 2022, we hope that we can take everything that we learned in 2021 and continue to innovate and grow as a community. A community that helped us thrive amidst change and unpredictability brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic. After 13 months of virtual programming, with your support, perseverance, and determination, we re-opened our doors for in-person programming in April of 2021.

This year taught us that together we can accomplish seemingly the impossible. We learned to embrace the unknown and all the twists and turns that come with it. We also learned that we can only grow as far as the goals we set for ourselves, and our determination has not gone unnoticed. During the 2021 GiGi’s Playhouse National Leadership Conference, our Playhouse was awarded the Core Value Award for “Believe.” The Believe award is given to a Playhouse that stepped outside its comfort zone and worked as a community toward success. We are incredibly proud of how we continue to demonstrate growth and unity!

As a non-profit organization, we rely on community partnerships and communicative engagement to keep our therapeutic, educational, and career development programming free for all. By creating new community partnerships with organizations such as HelloBaby, lululemon, The Donut Ride, and Starbucks, we were able to develop even more opportunities for growth, acceptance, and awareness for our participants.

We are excited to see what the next year will bring. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do to make our community believe, inspire, and thrive. We look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for believing in us and our mission to send a message of acceptance for all!
