Check out GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte in the news!

The spring 2024 issue of Ballantyne Magazine features a story about the difference that Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne @caboballantyne is making in the disability community, especially when it comes to providing job skills for people with intellectual disabilities.

Our very own GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte is one of the lucky beneficiaries of this mission. The kitchen manager at Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne, Ryan Costin (far left, in this photo taken at the restaurant) has enjoyed coming to our playhouse on Kings Parade Boulevard to teach cooking and meal preparation skills to our eager participants, who always greet him with hugs and enthusiasm. He said a favorite dish is tacos, especially a dessert version made with Nutella and bananas. Thanks Ryan, and Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne, for helping our participants embrace the joy of cooking while learning lifelong skills!

Be sure to read the full article to find out how Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne partner and co-owner, Craig Calcasola, started an expansive outreach program to support the disability community. In addition to the restaurant’s support of GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte, it hosts the annual Taco Dash 5K, a road race that supports businesses and organizations that train, employ and provide life skills to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte is proud to have Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne as a supporter and community connection. We love making connections in the community, and career development is a pillar of our evidence-based programming. Join us, and let’s keep helping all our participants reach their “Best of All.”
