GiGi Professional Launched!
This summer, Mary Lee, our Adult Career Coordinator, facilitated the launch of the pilot of the GiGi Professional program with four participants who had completed the GiGi Prep, and the GiGi U Career Development Programs and the commitment of a team of amazing volunteers!
The new GiGi Professional is a certificate program and the latest in GiGi’s career development program series. Five of twelve certificates were completed during the nine-week program this summer: Work Readiness, Professionalism, Administrative, Product Development, and Product Presentation. Class members quickly completed the Work Readiness and Professionalism Certificates since most of the content was covered in the GiGi Prep and GiGi U programs; all passed the assessment with flying colors! The remainder of the nine weeks focused on the Administrative, Product Development, and Product Presentation Certificates.
The class learned the vocabulary associated with a Cricut machine, the use of the various tools, design selection, and steps to create vinyl transfers to adorn stainless steel Tumblers under the guidance of Renee Easter, program assistant, with the support of other dedicated volunteers, Lynne Markowitz, Joan Blum, Amy Jameson, and Jessica Bland.
The class members also honed their customer service skills to run the beloved Butterfly Café Coffee Pop-up, twice this summer, and one is planned for December; watch for the upcoming date.
To advertise both the Butterfly Café and their beautifully designed Tumblers, the class learned to use Canva to create flyers, which were shared with friends, posted in the Playhouse, and delivered to businesses in the office building. They utilized their administration skills to make copies of flyers or print an attachment received in an email. They helped to craft personalized invitations to the Butterfly Café, which they emailed. We are very proud of Alyssa, Hannah, Olivia, and Sharon’s accomplishments this summer!
