Hollywood Comes to Annapolis

Hannah finds her Walk of Fame Star.

By: Ginger Houston-Ludlam

The stars in Annapolis have never shined so brightly as they did on January 4th when GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis hosted their “Welcome to Hollywood” dance.

Over 25 participants and 24 volunteers danced and toasted the night away.  Everybody put on their best fancy clothes, including faux furs, sparkling jewelry and tiaras on our lovely ladies and LOTS of gold lame on our handsome guys.  There were screaming fans, unruly paparazzi (who were held in check by our burly security staff!), red carpet interviews and stars on our own walk of fame.  Sparkling cider flowed from our champagne fountain.  And, of course, there was lots of dancing!  Our beloved ballroom dance teacher Jacki taught everyone how to do several foxtrot steps, just like Fred and Ginger!

This event was the first of a series of dances being put together under the pilot “Dancetastic” program at GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis.  Five of our adult participants got together as a planning committee and envisioned all aspects of the dance, including the theme, the decorations and the snacks.  They are now planning the next dance which will be held as the last session of Fantastic Friends for the winter…I hear disco fever is going to strike Annapolis on March 29th, so dust off that polyester suit in the back of the closet and watch the GiGi’s calendar for the announcement!!

Autograph seeking fan girls are kept behind the ropes from our Fantastic Friends Stars!

Fantastic Friend Chris being interviewed on the red carpet!
